We are really (really, really) excited to announce that Rob Hawkes, Technical Evangelist at Mozilla, will be giving a special presentation at the May 2012 Melbourne Geek Night (6.30pm on 21st May at the Horse Bazaar in Melbourne).

For those of you who don't know Rob, here is a little heads up ... Rob is the author of Foundation HTML5 Canvas and is a Technical Evangelist at Mozilla. He leads the gaming side of Mozilla’s work within the developer community.  You can find out loads more about Rob and his great work at his official website or follow him on twitter - @robhawkes.

The topic for Rob's talk is Boot to Gecko: The Future of Mobile?  In this talk, Rob will outline Mozilla’s Boot to Gecko project that aims to revolutionise the way we develop for mobile devices. He’ll highlight the key technologies involved in its creation and explain why a mobile experience created with HTML and JavaScript is a good idea.

For further details about the next Melbourne Geek Night, or to register to come along (it's free!), checkout the MGN website or follow us on twitter - @melb_geeks.

Rob is also talking at Web Directions Code 2012 whilst he is in Melbourne.
